Gopal Shyamantak Prasad aka Shyam is a music mystic. A naturally gifted musicologist who is endowed with the Perfect Pitch, Trinity certified pianist/keyboardist, cellist, theorist and composer. He is also a violist, violinist, saxophonist, clarinetist, 
guitarist, music arranger and freelance musicologist [one who studies, analyses, writes critical musical reviews].
Shyam has developed his own style of Fusion-Carnatic music that has captivated the audience. Shyam effectively uses the Western chords and Carnatic ragas to bring out the emotions that encapsulate a melody.
Shyam has his own music band named “Perfect 4th“. The band focusses on four different genres in music starting from 17th century to modern times. The band performs music from different times and genres – The unique concept juxtaposes from different genres from 1600s to this day. From Western Classical to Carnatic to Maestro Ilaiyaraaja’s music to Shyam’s compositions. The music reflects the fusion element besides showcasing the evolution through various genres. The potpourri of flavors deliver an aural treat to the audience taking them back and forth in time and sensibilities.
Shyam’s music accolades:
- Shyam stood Chennai first in Grade III and has completed Grade V in Piano from Trinity College of Music, London.
- Earned a distinction in Grade III in Cello from Trinity College of Music, London.
- Earned distinction in Grades 1-8 in Western Music Theory from Trinity College of Music, London.
- Was awarded Merit Certification in Viola by A R Rahman’s K M Music Conservatory, Chennai.
- Shyam composed and played piano in a musical titled Perfect 4th with senior musicians in Music Academy, Chennai, in Aug 2018.
- Shyam composed, arranged BGM, and played Cello in Celnatic Experience Music Concert in Chennaiyil Thiruvaiyaaru in Dec 2017.
- He arranged music and played Cello in A R Rahman’s String Ensemble in the Indo-Belgian Friendship Music Concert, in Nov 2017 in Chennai.
- Svoboda [Freedom in Russian language] was Shyam’s first concert in Chennai, Aug 2016 in Alliance Francoise. He composed music, conducted and played piano in Svoboda and engaged top musicians of Maestro Ilaiyaraaja [viola, violin, double bass and percussion] in 2016.
- He has composed and arranged music, and played Cello in the A R Rahman’s Music College festivals and concerts.
Shyam is presently engaged in performing gigs, bands & orchestral performances, music composing, piano recitals, personal/Skype tutoring and critical reviewing of famous compositions of various composers including Maestro Ilaiyaraaja. He composes and arranges music for other musicians.

Recent Performances
Drums & Percussion – Drummer Sridhar
Drummer Sridhar is a world record holder in percussion playing. He holds the Guinness Book of World Records for playing percussion blindfolded for 44 hours without a stop. He has performed in 2000+ programs and has won several accolades. Sridhar is a proud winner of MSV Awards for Percussion. He travels across the globe to perform gigs with reputed musicians. Sridhar has his own percussion training school named Drumfighters’ Academy, in Chennai. He trains kids of all ages and is very popular in the orchestral circuit of Chennai.
Bass & Rhythm Guitarist Alex Doss
Alex has been a rhythm guitarist initially and then moved to bass guitar. He has been playing guitar for over 40 years and has gone on stage on 6000+ occasions. Alex has played for renowned music directors in the South Indian film industry including Chandrabose, Vijayanand, Vandhe Madharam Srinivasan and Srilekha. He has been a regular on several TV performances and talent shows.
Bass Guitar – Nigel Stephen
Nigel is a bass guitarist who has performed in over 5000 music programs over the last 35 years. He has been a prominent musician in the Chennai and Tamil Nadu concert music circuit. He has performed in different genres of music and has appeared in several TV shows. He has traveled to several countries to perform music.
Saxophone [Alto & Soprano] – Durgaprasad
Durgaprasad is a saxophonist by profession and is a trained Carnatic musician who has been performing for the past 12 years. He hails from a family of musicians. Durga has performed in over 1000+ music in programs and has delivered Carnatic and fusion music on stages, in studios and in private gigs.
